We believe that the local church is the primary place for healing and transformation. We are not here to replace the local church in Christian discipleship. Think of us as a supplement not a substitute.
Our ministry staff and participants come to us from various Christian backgrounds and denominations. We welcome the diversity of these backgrounds to help us understand the vastness of God’s character. Our different experiences reveal different facets of God to each of us. As we share and grow in community, we also share and grow in our understanding of the many facets each of us has learned. Even so, we have identified a basic foundation we ask staff and participants to agree upon in ministry.
In Essentials, Unity
We believe and affirm the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds
We believe the Bible, consisting of both Old & New Testaments, is the authoritative Word of God written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and is our supreme and final authority in faith and life.
We believe and hold to the traditional Christian ethic and morality regarding sexuality and marriage held by the Church across cultures and for millennia—that is, God’s design for marriage is that between one man (i.e. biological male) and one woman (i.e. biological female) for one lifetime and that any sexual activity outside of that covenant relationship is sin and ultimately destructive.
In Non-Essentials, Liberty
We welcome individuals from all kinds of Christian traditions. Our ministry is intentionally designed to be accessible by individuals from many different denominations. Those in agreement with the aforementioned statements should have no issue participating at Outpost. Our staff and volunteer leaders come from a variety of backgrounds and have distinct, and firmly held, beliefs that may differ from each other and you. These differences are considered by Outpost to be secondary or tertiary issues and should not disrupt our primary focus of Christian discipleship in the areas of sexual and relational brokenness.
